What age can a child start dance classes in Edison, NJ?
At American Dance Studios in Edison, children can start as young as age 2. Our Twinkle Stars preschool program has classes for ages 2–3 and ages 3–5.
What do preschoolers learn in Twinkle Stars?
Twinkle Stars is a combo class of ballet, tap, and tumbling. Children build coordination, balance, listening skills, and confidence while learning to follow directions and take turns, the same skills that help them succeed in preschool and kindergarten.
My child is shy or has never been in a class without me. Will they be OK?
Yes. Our preschool teachers are trained to help little ones separate gently and feel safe. Many children who cling on day one are waving goodbye within a few weeks.
Is there a short preschool dance program before committing to a full year?
Yes. Our 8-week Preschool Intro to Dance session runs this fall for new families. It costs $220 for the full session: Tuesdays 5:30–6:15 PM (ages 3–5), Tuesdays 6:30–7:15 PM (ages 2–3), and Thursdays 6:30–7:15 PM (ages 3–5). Tuesday classes run Oct 20–Dec 15, 2026 and Thursday classes run Oct 22–Dec 17, 2026, with no class Thanksgiving week.
Do preschoolers perform in a recital?
Yes. Twinkle Stars perform in our shows, and every child is celebrated at our year-end trophy graduation. It is a moment families never forget.
Can parents watch preschool dance class?
We keep parents updated through ClassDojo with photos and progress notes.
What should my preschooler wear to dance class?

Our preschool department is led by Nicole Washington, with teachers trained in early childhood dance and our Rising Star Method, which builds Skill, Tenacity, Artistry, Respect, and Service from the very first class.
