The History of Tap Dance
Tap dance has a rich history that spans centuries and cultures. Originating from a blend of African tribal dances, Irish jigs, and English clog dancing, tap dance evolved into a uniquely American art form. It gained popularity in the early 20th century and became an integral part of Broadway performances and Hollywood films. The rhythmic sounds of metal taps striking the floor created an infectious energy that captivated audiences worldwide.
